SEUNGHEE LEE'S INTERMEZZO

Intermezzo, a term often used in opera, refers to a musical interlude that provides a moment of reflection and transition within the larger narrative; a pause between acts. As an album title, Intermezzo signifies a pivotal juncture in my career when I took a break from it all, uncertain if or when I would return to the stage as life brought different priorities, such as parenting. Then one day, I discovered the soulful and bel canto style of Michele Mangani's clarinet works. “I want to play that!” was my immediate response upon hearing one of his pieces on social media. As a clarinet player himself, Mangani's compositions capture moments that reflect my journey of rediscovery and deep emotional connection to the clarinet. Visit Intermezzo.
